The OpenFlow protocol allows network controllers to determine the path of network packets, which is useful for debugging and managing network infrastructure. The OpenFlow protocol also allows for the creation of network controllers with custom functions, which makes SDN more efficient and flexible. When OpenFlow messages are captured using the Wireshark network protocol analyzer, they are able to see the data being sent and received. Additionally, OpenFlow messages are also visible to other OpenFlow frameworks and applications.
